The power of “Black Twitter” and social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, have opened the door for Black Consumers to create trends, develop new cultural ideals, and provide instant product service feedback to followers in real time! Digital media has changed how African Americans consume art and entertainment, but most of all how they shop, communicate and even promote social justice. 54% of African Americans have lived their entire lives in the digital age, as African Americans are the second youngest ethnic group today with a median age of 34.02 according to global consumer researchers, making the digital universe and its conveniences central to the Black consumer lifestyle.

Black consumers are embracing the technology industry at an alarming rate, while owning multiple devices that they are using daily for all kinds of activities. Product discovery on mobile devices are increasing, and as Black consumers are spending more time on these devices, they are also increasing the dollars spent through those devices. It is apparent that Black consumers are actively embracing their technology, which is impacting almost 54% of the consumers shopping behaviors. Long story short, now is the perfect time to engage with the Black consumer interested in purchasing brand new attractive devices in 2020 and beyond.

Black consumers are also leveraging digital plat-forms and technology to move from consumers to creators–of platforms, products, content and financial ecosystems. African Americans entrepreneurs are finding their way into the App industry by filling gaps of information needed and of interest to the Black consumer. Black Apps such as Official Black Wall Street and I Am Black Business have created an easy way to access information about business and provide a searchable way to find other black businesses to share like spending power. Dear BWe family,

There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for the support and encouragement shown by so many throughout this HUGE undertaking that we affectionately call “BWe NEXT Atlanta!”

Thank you to our sponsors (especially Chase Bank, our 2022 Title Sponsor), those small business exhibitors, musical artists, speakers & panelists, my phenomenal team and every single attendee for breathing life into our celebration of the Black woman in all three cities! Because of you, her legacy indeed continues!

I stole a few moments here and there to check out the vendors, pop in on panel discussions and catch some entertainment on the main stage. All I could say was, “WOW! WE DID THAT!”

There’s no doubt that my sister is smiling down on our earnest efforts that manifested into excellent execution. Ruby, we did it!

Again, please accept my heartfelt thanks….and Happy New Year!
